SP.00 Media · Strategy and publicity

What to say about your business, and how to get it heard.

We work out what your customers should believe about you, take your story to the reporters who cover your industry, and can run a paid article about you in our own publication.

Toronto · 1050 King Street West

SP.01 What this is

We run our own newsroom, and we sell three things alongside it.

We publish every day, in our own app on the App Store and on a live map of the city. The reporters, the camera crew and the engineers all work in the same building.

SP.02 The three things we do

Take one, or all three.

SP.02.01

Working out what to say about you

For a business whose customers have the wrong idea about it, or no idea at all.

What you get

  • One sentence on what your customers should believe
  • What to say first, what to say next, and what comes last
  • One set of words, so your website, your slides and a sales call all say it the same way
  • What has to change in your business once this is done
SP.02.02

Getting your story to reporters

For a business with something genuinely new and no way to reach the reporters who cover it.

What you get

  • The part of your business that is actually worth a story
  • The publication, the reporter and the deadline, named before we contact anyone
  • Everything a reporter asks for: facts, dates, names, pictures, someone to interview
  • What your chances are, before we start

We cannot promise that a news outlet we do not own will run your story.

SP.02.03

A paid article about you in our publication

In our own publication, and marked as paid.

What you get

  • Written and made by our own team
  • No reporter is assigned to it

SP.03 Where we draw the line

The newsroom is not for sale.

We publish the news and we sell the work above. These are the rules that keep the two apart.

  1. 01

No payment gets a story published, changed, or kept out

  2. 02

Paid work is marked as paid, and it never runs as news

  3. 03

We turn down work with no real story in it

The rules our reporters follow: how the desk works. What we publish: the newsroom, and The Dispatch on the App Store.
